Breadcrumbs measurement conversions
Recipes switch between volume (cups, tablespoons and teaspoons) and weight (grams) all the time, and for breadcrumbs the two aren't interchangeable โ you have to know the density. Breadcrumbs has a density of about 0.4 g/ml, which means:
- 1 cup of breadcrumbs โ 96 g
- 1 dl of breadcrumbs โ 40 g
- 1 tablespoon of breadcrumbs โ 6 g
- 1 teaspoon of breadcrumbs โ 2 g
Measuring tip. Dry breadcrumbs are light and airy. Fresh (soft) breadcrumbs weigh less again for the same volume, so these values suit dried crumbs.
The pages below give you each specific conversion โ pick the exact one you need, with a full table and a calculator for any amount. When a recipe really matters, a kitchen scale beats every volume measure: weight ignores how packed or sifted the breadcrumbs is.
